REDSPEED Combined Red-Light and Speed

RedSpeed system uses combined Redguard (red-light enforcement) and Speedcurb (speed enforcement) technology to monitor speed when signals are on green and monitor vehicles exceeding the speed limit when traffic signals are on red. The Redspeed cameras have Piezo sensor technology set into the road.

SpeedCurb (Speed Enforcement): Three sensors are buried in the road surface, the sensors detect the presence of a vehicle and initiate the Redspeed system. The system takes three measurements from all three sensors to calculate and determine the speed at which a vehicle is travelling. If a speeding offence has occurred the system will trigger the camera to take three photographs; one zoom close up for identifying the vehicles index number, the second picture uses a wide angle overview which shows the vehicle make, model, colour and secondary check marks painted on the road and the third uses a wide angle overview which shows the vehicle was moving at the time of the offence. A police enforcement official will review the photographic evidence to confirm the speed limit has been exceeded over a fixed distance. See example 1 of Speed offence

RedGuard (Red-light): In the same way that the SpeedCurb system initiates when the presence of a vehicle moves over the sensors at a monitored traffic signal junction, the system is triggered when a vehicle moves across the sensors after a pre-set delay as the traffic signals display a red-light. The system takes three digital images. A wide angle shot showing make of vehicle, model, colour, traffic signals displaying red-light and the vehicle crossing the stop line. A second zoom image shows a close up of the rear of the vehicle and image 3 shows that the vehicle entered the junction. A police enforcement official will review the photographic evidence to confirm the vehicle had crossed the stop line and entered the junction. See example 2 of red-light offence images.
